Meet Londyn. She was the perfect little sleeper and gave me quite a few big ol’ grins during her newborn portrait session. Big brother wasn’t so sure about taking pictures with her, but he got the hang of it pretty quick.

Little Paige and her mom came into Fort Smith for her newborn portraits without dad and big brother - they were at a Wiggles concert in Dallas. Luckily mom knew it was important to get newborns in for their portrait sessions within the first 10 days (2 weeks max). Hint, hint, hint   :)
Dad and bro came by later in the week to get their chance to hold this little cutie in front of the camera. More on that later…

And when I say little, I mean not. Well, sure, little compared to you or I, but at 9 pounds and 2 ounces, she’s a pretty big girl. Or as her daddy said,
‘She came out a toddler.’
However big she is, she sure is cute.

And now for part II of Robyn’s Senior Portrait Session. When I asked her if she wanted to be a guinea pig for some new stuff I had been wanting to try, I had lighting in mind. Lots of lighting.  Maybe you remember this session, it helped me see where I wanted to go with Robyn’s senior portraits. And I knew I wanted to go one step further and get a little more landscape involved in Robyn’s portraits, so we headed east of town to get some portraits with a little ‘post-apocalyptic’ feel to them. Natives of Fort Smith and surrounding areas probably know where I’m talking about, but since we were asked nicely to vacate the premises (signs were posted everywhere BUT where we went, I don’t trespass intentionally), I’ll leave the location a mystery by not saying where or showing off some of the more ‘really-tell-tale’ images. Anywho, on to part II…

An interesting, if hard to believe, fact about the last two images: they’re in chronological order. The first one where Robyn is sitting in the middle of the road was shot at 7:19pm, whereas the last one with the sun behind her was shot at 7:31pm. Pretty crazy what you can do with some serious lights, huh?

This session was a bit different for a few reasons. First, Robyn and her mom drove all the way from Bryant, Arkansas for her senior portraits. Second, they brought Robyn’s aunt along (not a big deal, just hadn’t happened before).  And third, I was photographed while I was photographing.  See, Robyn’s mom and aunt are both into photography, and after a discussion we’d had while Robyn was getting ready, they’d asked if I cared if they took some pictures while I was taking Robyn’s portraits. They wanted to ’shoot the shoot’ as they put it. It didn’t bother me so they did. It was kinda weird to start with, but I totally forgot they were doing it after awhile. Oh yeah, and four, when I asked if she wanted to be a guinea pig for some new stuff I wanted to try, she said she was game (which was awesome, since most people look at me like I actually want to turn them into a guinea pig when I ask that…)
Now on to part one of a two part series of Robyn’s Senior Portraits (it was rather difficult cutting it down to just two posts)…

Perhaps you noticed a slightly different layout, what with the larger images and all. Is it better, worse, etc…? It looks better on an iPhone, but what about your viewing device of choice? Let me know in the comment section below.

Here’s a quick sneak peek of Robyn’s senior portrait session from the other day. She drove all the way from Bryant, AR to Ft. Smith. I hope they think it was worth it (I do, but I didn’t have to drive all that way)…
