This sweet little lady’s mom called us wanting to get her in for her newborn photos as soon as possible, since she was about to hit the ripe old age of 2 weeks. We like to photograph babies before 10 days if possible; after that they often don’t stay all curled up and tend to stay awake for longer periods of time. Oh yeah, then there’s the baby acne that often shows up around then as well. Luckily, this adorable little doll went to sleep and stayed that way for most of her session. She got pretty upset with me a few times for moving her, but it was nothing a little paci-time couldn’t handle. And such a little lady, she was the first newborn in a while that didn’t require even a single load of laundry (well, a burp cloth got it, but that’s nothin!).
Anyway, O. Family it was great meeting you and congrats on your little one

Are you a fan on Facebook yet?

This little lady came in for her Newborn Photography Session in a pretty good mood. You know, real sleepy and such. Then I laid her down on the blanket, and BAM! Eyes wide open. She slept very little during the session and was particularly…un-pleased…when I would try to pose her. Oh well, we got some sweet pictures despite her not particularly liking me…

This cute little guy was our first Newborn Photo session of the year. I think it was a great way to start off too! He slept great… until he got hungry, then he was wide-eyed until he and his parents left (even after eating). It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do some natural light newborn photos, but man, now I remember why they beat flash any day of the week! Congratulations on your new little bundle of joy, he’s adorable.

Last week I was able to go over to Oklahoma (my home state, btw) to photograph this cute little newborn. Of course it had been all sunshiny and bright right up till I got there. Let me tell you, my lights have been getting a workout recently (as have  my slowly growing lighting skills).  Anyway, after setting up all my assorted stuff (and rearranging and cluttering up the formerly spotless living room) little Frasier was ready to be photographed. At the 3-days-old mark Mom & Dad agree she probably won’t be a model. She wasn’t fond of me moving her around much. And she let me know the best way she could… let’s just say that’s why everything we use is washable and the washing machine is always empty before I leave the house for a newborn session! Dirty blankets or not, future model or not, she sure is a cutie! Congrats Mom and Dad and thanks for letting me mess up your home for a few hours  :)

Now, on with the pics…

from my experience photographing newbies, while incredibly cute, this face usually means it’s about time for a new diaper… luckily, at this point she had one on, unlike later…

I went up to Fayetteville about a week ago to get some sweet little newborn shots of little Mr. Jayce. He was a bit early, and we had quite the time scheduling around the Thanksgiving plans and such, but it all worked out well in the end. When I left Fort Smith it was all sunny and nice (natural window-light is awesome for newborn portraits). Of course when I got to Fayetteville, it was another story. While I don’t normally like doing newborn shoots using studio lights, I must say that I liked the results, especially the dramatic quality of the shots with mom and dad. And check out little man in the santa hat at the top of the blog, he’s the second image as it cycles through.

I love it when babies make eye contact…

p.s.
Mom & Dad, there are more in your gallery that are in color, my faves just happened to be almost entirely in b&w. Thank you for welcoming me in to your home. It was great meeting you and your new little man!

OK, so just added it up and since the beginning of October, we’ve had 28 sessions (and 3 more in the next 4 days). So if it’s taking a while to get your gallery up, well, we’re almost caught up.

***Christmas Orders***

If you’ve already had your access to your gallery for a week or more, and you’re wanting your pictures/cards back in time for Christmas without having to pay extra for a rush shipment, we need your orders (and payments) by Saturday, December 5th.

Happy Thanksgiving and be careful out there on Black Friday. Try not to get trampled scrambling for that 75″ Flat Panel TV for $20!!

And since we like to have at least one picture per post (being a photography blog and all…), here are a few previews of our most recent sessions.
